  • Cook Time: 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 1 hour, 30 minutes

Instructions

  • Soak the rice for 30 minutes in water.
  • Set aside after draining.
  • Combine the chicken, yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, turmeric, chili powder, garam masala, cumin powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, covered.
  • Warm the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Combine the cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon stick, and bay leaves in a mixing bowl.
  • Cook for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant.
  • Fry the sliced onion until golden brown.
  • Cook until the marinated chicken is browned on all sides.
  • Pour in the soaked rice and water.
  • Bring the water to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover, and leave to cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
  • Remove from the heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy.
